PRUDENTIAL FINANCIAL
Prudential Financial was founded in 1875 by insurance agent John Fairfield Dryden. It was the first company in the United States to make life insurance available to the working class.
Expansion and growth took place in the latter third of the twentieth century, topping off the decade with the company entering the residential real estate brokerage business in 1987 by forming a new subsidiary – Prudential Real Estate Affiliates – which markets franchises primarily to existing real estate companies. The franchises are generally independently owned and operated.
